HI
why have all big Tgps target=top?

Instead of target=blank?
To get bookmarkers I guess. Most surfers don't like when you open a new window.

Unfortunately, after I have noticed that most sponsors pop their own referral pages for other sites other than their own I make sure to open "THOSE" sponsors in new windows no matter what because if a surfer has one of those annoying pop up fests happen while clicking a simple daily free pic link and it blows up their screen with sponsor ads, neither site will get a bookmark nor a join up, after 2 windows op surfers get nervous and will eventually close all windows including yours, without bookmarking, just my thoughts, I dont use pop ups personally. But I DO use the target=blank.

some of them have rotating banners and they want the surfers to see new banners when the page is loaded again...

Hallo
I think target=top is remained from the beginn the internet time, as the the big counterlist (sexlist,sextracker...) the hits counted by raw hits
and not by uniques I mean I donīt have an advantage when I have 100.000 raw hits and only 20.000 uniques and also I lost my surfer when he close the gallery and he must search my site again "I use target=blank"

if you open galleries in a new window then you force surfers... they can't do anything about it. If you don't use a target attribute then they can decide what to do. That's what they like most and that's how to get bookmarkers.
If you say you don't care about raw traffic then I guess you're not that long in this bizz. All 'good' sites have at least a 1:4 unique:raw ratio. Have a look at ST top 10 and see yourself. All sites with a lower ratio are closer to a CJ than to a TGP. And that a 'mix' site doesn't bring a lot of money... just listen to these webmasters and hear them moan.
