MPG, FLV or WMV for hosted gals? And why?

I am really confused on which format to follow for future projects, so I will be glad if you give me an idea which of these formats do you prefer for Hosted Galleries;

I voted for MPEG as this is the most traditional format that can be played on all OS. WMV is Microsoft product and people using other OS might have difficulties playing WMV movies. Flash is still the future thing.

We use WMV at members area. Also provide IPOD mp4 versions. For the members are I think it is best for 20-40 minute movies. But most provide MPG for hosted gals and FLV looked so cool to me as you can show everything within the page.

but if you use the exact same codec and format, the movies in the galleries and in your member area will be the same. any folks your member videos won't work for won't be able to play the gallery vids - that's a good thing. and people who particularly like WMVs will get an accurate idea of what you offer.

imo it makes no sense to offer samples of something your site doesn't have.

1. WMV - Bigger video file size, good quality video and most people can play them.

2. MPG - Nothing special in my mind about mpg. And some people have problems playing them.

3. FLV - Smaller video file size but can lack quality. I'm sure it'll be the standard in a few years.

WMV is not compatible with Mac or Linux by default since its windows proprietary.

MPG can be almost fully universal unless you use a non standard codec.
