I am not familiar with FREEBSD but for linux I would install WIN2k first and then install linux where you could install a boot manager like LILO or GRUB, if this is your first time with linux I suggest using redhat at first to learn a few commands installation is a lot easier and like windows and then after you get comfortable with it move on to slackware
hope that helps!

thanks for the advice I'll read more about red hat at there site...
I would agree Redhat is your best choice if your new to linux, or perhaps SuSE. Make sure 2k is on first then the Linux Loader LILO will be able to dual boot either OS.

If you use 2k more, you might want to make it the default boot.

I just setup this same thing a month ago when I got my newest machine. Partition your HD into at least 2, then install win 2K first.

Then install Linux RD or what ever, make sure to use Grub not lilo, grub is much newer and easier dual booter to work with.

Remember to select YES when it asks if Red Hat can write over the MBR (master boot record) its fine to do so.

You can contact me on ICQ and I will hook you up with a .doc that will walk you through the whole thing.

Let me know.
