Just curious, how many people here have no real education (hope everyone has a high school diploma at least) and nothing to fall back on if they fail out of the online and/or adult biz? I'm just returning to college now so I'll never have to suffer that fate <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="smile.gif" />

I'm a Web Guru... Been one for damn near six years... yeeep. See, what I do, is I take these things called domains, and I used my highly advanced marketing techniques (I'd explain but these techniques are pretty damn complicated and you guys may not understand, you see I'm not a moron, I know what I'm doing) anyways... what I do is I take these "domains" and I buy them for a cheap mount' money... hell... sometimes they're free... then, what I do, see, is I sell dem' damn domains for nearly $10,000 big ones... That's right, 10,000! I'd share my marketing techniques, but I learned dem' back in Web Guru school... Pfhh, educashun? Who de hell needs that when you got brights like ma'self?

why did I expect to get a bunch of honest responses on this thread. My biggest surprise is that it got so many replies. Personally I'm taking an 18 month course to get my associates degree in computer networking, and will have enough education to get an A+ certificate and net at least a 40k a year job. I was really just wondering cause I don't know how half of you can sleep at night without some kind of dimploma under your belt. At least for me, I know that I can feel financially secure for the rest of my life <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="tongue.gif" />

Terrance11> a A+ certificate don't give you a $40K job. If you don't start working right away after you get it it will be worthless within 6 month. What you need is experience and a certificate don't give you enough experience to get a $40K job

i think a bachelors degree is minimum now much like high school was 15-20 years ago. unless ur lucky enough to grab a decent job without a degree.

A degree or diploma doesn't mean shit if you don't have drive and ambition. I know guys who have multiple degrees but have no self esteem. They are afraid to chase the good jobs and opportunities because they always think they don't know enough. People like that will never succeed. Balls are worth more than degrees any day of the week. BTW, I have a degree I can fall back on, but the idea of doing 9 to 5 with a boss breaking my balls every day is not my idea of success. That life is for sheep.

Terrance11, Due is right an A+ with no experience might get you 25-35 a year if you are lucky and get picked over the other 300 guys tying for the job, Don't believe all the "You to can make 67,000 a year with your MCSE with two weeks training" You can with about 3-5 years of good experience, I have around 6 years I have an A+ MCSE +I and a CCNA, once you have a couple of years in you can do ok. But hell just do what we do sell domains for like hootersfordumbasses.com for 10,000 like me! Regards, Cyber3

my A+ on top of an associates degree in computer networking <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="smile.gif" /> It's only an 18 month course to get the degree, plus visual basic/programming is included, so I can get a certificate in that as well. I also hope to get a visual communications degree afterwards, if I have the time...

Terrance, Man I though the same damn thing when I got out of training. At first I was like, Sweet I am going to be making some good dough just because I know how to take off the case "whoohoo", and write a batch file. Ohhhh, No, I had a real shocker when I got out there and started looking for one of those 40k plus jobs, everyone wanted experience, experience, experience, and too boot they wanted at least a BS in something, which I didn't have, I was quite frustrated, but I stuck it out and got and MCSE and found a good company to pay for the training! Yea! Moral: Don't put all your eggs in one basket, I think that is what people are trying to say here. As for the porn, Fuck it, it's fun!

I know how those damn bastards at those Technical Schools talk, "Oh yeah, A+, Thats A good one, Etc Etc Etc, Just keep focused on what you want to get out of the IT industry and work for it. nothing worth while happens over night. Education ? Well, if you are stupid person, you will need "diploma". But if you are smart, you can be succesfull without one piece of paper. I don't mean to boast, but I have no education, still I own several companies, mostly "offline", and I make probaply more money than prime minister of your country...
