I do quite well with Casino programs, and have been promoting them for the last two years. I prefer to work with affiliate portals rather than the casinos individually, I find I don't get screwed that way. I've tried tons of them and the best is probably Referback.
Their casinos have some very enticing sign up offers and have been my best converting.
You can also try Commission Junction. They have a nice mix of casinos to promote. Both of them have always paid on time and will group your earnings from several casinos into one check.
As far as how well casinos do compared to the adult industry, its hard to say, I think it really depends on the type of traffic you get. I think combining them is the best way to go. Nice thing about promoting casinos is if you get one big hitter he can really make you a lot of cash since you are paid mostly on a % basis.

Adult Traffic = People who want their shit for free. :(
Casino Traffic = People who are actually interested in playing and making a deposit on their CC. :)

I once u used referback and I earned and amazing 184$ on my first client. Then ofcourse I got exited and put their ads up everywhere. And I sent them 210,000 unique visitors and only made another 100$ that was when I decided to never promote casinos again.

That was my first and last experience with online casino's.
