I see so may negative postings about prohosters.com that been posted here lately. And I want to tell you my point of view, and have this on new topic 2 cause old one is too big already.
Why so many people come here to bitch? They have been down. Yes, so what. So as the other hosts going down from time to time. And some guys on virtual host with one or two domains, where paying some $20.00 a month say that they lost their business. Have you been with other hosts before? Did you paid $100.00 a month for 10 gigs of transfer for one IP? Didn't you see the downtime there? NO?! So shut the fuck up!
You have to expect this. It happens with all hosting companies. And quite often.
Speaking of support, they always do in matter of hours, sometimes right away. And not to tell what a great goodies comes with your service: Telnet, PHP, MySql etc...
So stop bitching here about their host. If you can't hadle this, then you are in fucking wrong business.
ChrisM
Damnit why did you waste a min of my time reading this...Do you think your post is gonna stop every bitching about hosts? People are gonna do it...So deal with it.

I pay well over 1000 a month in hosting between my sites, and just because a host gives you fucking support doesn't mean that people won't bitch when they fuck things up.
I've been with hosts that've given bad support, and guess what, I left them. And if a host is down for 20 hours in one week, then it's in my best interest to leave them too. Prohosters have been down quite a few times in the two month period that I've been with them. I don't recommend that anyone should use them.

also, last week prohosters went down for about 4 hours(moving to verio). But did they tell anyone this? Nope, because if they had told people that they would have to expect 15 hours of downtime over the next two days while they moved to verio, they knew everyone would switch hosts. So they told us after the first downtime. Then they sent us an e-mail saying that they'd be down for about 1 - 4(max) hours while they were finishing the move to verio. They then went down for close to ten hours.
Yesterday they went down for 5-6 hours, and the first thing they did once they got back up was send us all an e-mail saying verio did this and verio did that etc. not taking blame at all for anything.
If they had just given us a real warning before they moved, and told us how much downtime they'd go through, then some of us could've found a better host. I'm sure they knew about this verio move at least several weeks ago, but I never heard about it. They tried to screw everyone over because they didn't want to lose customers.

Lose customers? I don't think so. I have 60+ websites hosted on their server, and I wouldn't move just because of downtime. All I count is support!
Try to get this deal somewhere else:
60+ domains with over 100,000 pages, and 50 more on its way, AND THEY ALL HAVE SEPARATE IP's
BTW, And I pay my bills too.

And what type of sites do you run? If my traffic trade partners can bitch to me about my trades during the downtime, then it's fair that I bitch about my host's downtime.
Chrism, prohosters support is excellent, but they fucked us over for their own good. The fact that there was no warning about this verio move until after the first downtime makes me think they planned it that way.
I've been with many hosts, and prohosters is one of the worst I've been with when it comes to the amount of downtimes and how long they last etc. And I've only used them for 2 months.

I hate to play the devil advocate, but I don't any host can tell you exactly how much downtime they'll go through simple because it is a non-reccuring event. All they can do is give us estimations... beside they gave plenty of warnings before, during and after the relocation.

Okay quotealexa, you're right. They didn't know if they were going to go down with this verio move. And how the fuck would they have guessed that there would be in the beginning stages of this move.
And who knows, with prohosters history, there's no way of knowing if they'll go down again in the upcoming month. But I think I'll play it safe and switch hosts while I still can.
Last post for this thread ;)

Tasefulbabes, you have been with them for 2 month, and this is the only worst month that they have. Beside, its been down twice only.
I've been with them over a year now, and I'm happy with them.
All through it's your choice.

> The fact that there was no warning about

huh?
They gave warning WEEKS ahead of the move. On top of that, they gave constant feedback on what was happening at eack point in the move.
I've never experienced such good communication with any other host I use.
What are you on about?
> I've been with many hosts, and prohosters > is one of the worst I've been with when it > comes to the amount of downtimes
In the previous post, you said you've been with them 2 months. So you happened to be with them in the one period of time they had some trouble. Before that they were rock solid.
As for blaming this last downtime on Verio instead of taking the blame themselves, what do you expect? It was Verios problem!
Yeah downtime sucks.. But shit happens.
Jason.

chrism,
Your post is so lame i'm not even gonna comment you on that one. Only add you to my 'lamer list' where you belong...
I wasn't going to post but I just had to comment on them being down only twice....O.K. they were down only twice for an extended period of time, but what about the performance issues that are continuous. One minute my sites up the next it's down... one day my site has 10,000 hits the next 3,000 then back up to 10,000 then down to 4,000 for the next few days. It's a joke!

I don't give a shit about your lamer list. You can stick it up your arse. All I'm saying is that DON'T SAY OOPS BEFORE YOU JUMP!
Don't acuse people that you don't know and make a wrong impression on public boards. If you have a problem, send em an email, get in touch with some one out there, BUT NOT IN HERE!
And Mr.O you daily site performance 10K to 3K has nothing to do with downtime. If you submitting to tgp's, some days you get decent hits and some days not.
I say what I do, and I do what I say!

Hey people, All of you gangs out there!
You can post anything on these boards if the operator allow you. You can spam with your webmaster ID. But not accusing sponsors or hosting companies. Some guys are stating that they have been shaved. Fine. You don't like it, take you traffic some place else. Find good once out there that don't shave. Even thought I have been shaved so many times, but I never bitch on the boards about my sponsors and hosts. Remember, they are all connected together(most of them). And also I have experienced, and I want to share with you, that some sponsors good for your traffic and some are not. Depend on your traffic source of course. I can't say why, but that's how it is.
I say what I do, and I do what I say

Chrism,
I like your positive spirit and enthusiasm. It's a good way to live and work but let's not get ridiculous and say that site performance i.e. the difference between 3k a day and 10k a day has nothing to due with downtime. It does, you know it does... Like you said it is by no means necessarily the whole reason for a drop in traffic but c'mon. Of course if your site is offline it is going to affect traffic and productivity... 1+1=2....
Do you have a holding in Prohosters or something?... hehe, just kidding. I still commend your patience and understanding I would love to have a majority of customers with your demeanor....
Peace,
LiveDose :D
And that's a wrap! n'uff said.

No, I don't hold any of shares in company. I don't work there either. I only have my sites in there, and have a great support every time I ask.
Be more polite and everybody will help you. Not just in this biz, in whole life.

Usually I don't post at boards, but I seen ChrisM here so if it's good enough for him it's good enough for me. :)
I have been in this business since the early years. I have been though many many many hosts.
I can tell you this much. EVERY host is at the mercy of the technology of the INTERNET. All host have down time, everyone has a story to tell, good and bad about all hosts.
I think it's ok if ChrisM wants to share his GOOD luck story with his host. Maybe it works good for him. Maybe PH has worked out the bugs. I always hear bad things on boards, hardly any good.
I am with a host right now that gave me nothing but heart ache for a long time. But I got tired of jumping around from host to host. I STOPPED yelling at them and started working with them.
By communicating with them, I was able to get better service, and believe me that is a big plus. In fact, if ever you have been with a host that doesn't have 24 tech support, you know how terrible it is to go down and have no help.
Most hosts are crap. I have seen it. Most webmasters don't know what they are doing. I have seen that too.
But I can't see anything wrong with posting an opinion here. Isn't that the purpose of this board?
Now flame away boys. :)
