Audiogalaxy does not allow its users to download every song due to copyright restrictions. KazaA has few users online. Don't you think it's a good deal to start an mp3 web site right now?

Indeed, but if you can't download a song, just look for it with a common spelling-error in it ...
like for britney spears, just look for brittney spears ...works 99% of the time ;)
An MP3 site will probably only get you into trouble ...

MP3 sites are being shut down and sued for copyright infringement. This is very good. I am a former professional musician and it pisses me off to see all these people stealing music. Look at it this way, being a musician is a job. Now you wouldn't go to a job and work your ass off and not get paid for it, would you? (well some of us in the adult sites industry do....LOL)
There are only a couple of MP3 sites that are opperating legally. They are using licensed material and have distribution rights granted to them. For the most part I have no problem with MP3 technology. I only have a problem with those sites Violating copyrights.

The musicians aren't losing shit. In fact, they are probably getting more fans (who would rather buy the album.) It's the record labels who are losing the money, and I think it serves their asses right. They are the ones ruining music. One kind of sound gets big, so each label goes out and gets their own version of it. This is why there are so many Boy Bands and Britney Spears' and so many Linkin Parks...

Starting musicians love MP3. Make their own hip-hop-shit song and rename it as faithless-outrospective-best-song-ever.mp3 and put it on KaZaa.. :)
But the overall shit is bad. I must admit, I have shitloads of full albums from the web... :(
Why buy when you can get for free.
same goes with porn
GO TGP2! :D

how can a webmaster live by "why pay when you can get it for free" and be in this line of work?
I give away just enough to get em to join, no more no less. ;)

Why don't you ask the 1,000+ TGP webmasters that question? Ah well, let them ruin the industry... people are too stubborn to care about the future anymore.

First off musicians are loosing money from the royalties they recieve from the record labels. So your theory about musicians not loosing money is mute.
I have no problem with MP3s in general. My problem arises when an artist and/or record label has not licensed the material to be used and/or transmitted via the internet.
As far as TGPs, take a look at the galleries submitted. All the content is licensed to be distributed via the internet. Obviously there are quite a few webmasters who are ignorant to copyright laws.
I'm sorry, but the more I read some of these posts, the more I start wondering who these people are and why they are designing web sites and galleries. THIS IS A BUSINESS AND IS SUBJECT TO ALL APPLICABLE LAWS PERTAINING TO BUSINESSES. I mean you wouldn't just through up a store in your town and not know the rules and regulations pertaining to that type of store. Learn the laws and regulations about this business we are in.

It also depends on where in the world you host your mp3 site, here in Denmark is mp3 files legal and then, i belive, you cant get sued over putting it on the web. just remember a good disclaimer :D

Fantasy X,
It's a shame that the so called "royalties" paid to the musicians are penis compared to the revenues the record companies are taking.
Oh but did you know that CD sales were sky high during the good old Napster days? Believe it or not people actually try before they buy. To be quite honest, with a bit of regulation Napster could have been a massive cash cow for the record companies. There is no need to keep such services, but rather to regulate them a bit.
The name of the game is to tease the user.

Ok, under international copyright laws section 21 it states that any unautorized duplication, other then personal archives, distribution or broadcast in any mediam is strictly prohibited.
Denmark has signed the law so therefore it is illegal to create an MP3 and distibute it via the internet without distribution or broadcast rights.
Now as far as CD sales sky rocketing durring the Napster years, you better check your source. According to BMI and ASCAP (not affiliated with any record label) sales dropped by 25% durring that time period. Scince Napster shut down, sales have risen by 35%.
I fully aggree that MP3 is a good technology, if used properly. If an Artist or a record label desides to license the material to be distributed in MP3 format and grants certain individuals or companies distribution rights, then I have no problem with it.
As for royalties being peanuts, wake up! Metallica lost an estimated 10 million dollars in royalties from the illegal distribution of their music. Now If 10 million dollars is peanuts.....hell.....
Any way I have made my point using facts and not emotions. Yes I like a good deal. I like to get free stuff. But I am not going to steal to get what I want.
