I am making some of my content now..movies and pics for an upcoming site. Where should i start as far as legal issues..i know this sounds dumb, but do i need contracts first or something else?..who would write the contracts?
Any help from the content guys would be great if they can teach me from their mistakes..all i need is some info to get me in the right direction
Thanks ahead of time

Contact a lawyer. However, for free advice, hit Xbiz.com's message boards. THey have a board for content people.
You do need contracts. While I have done this for 8 years, I will refrain from providing advice as I don't want to be responsible :)
Seriously though, check there. You can no doubt get info on model releases, laws, etc.. You must have records on file where the government can come to any day and see them.
Good luck.

making your own content as in shooting it? you will need a modeling release with date from each model along with a copy of her/his i.d. on file during all business hours so that the authorities can see it.
we rent a drawer from a paralegal - it is fireproof and her secretary can show the stuff to any legal entities that happen by. she can also help you with modeling releases, etc. www.legallady.com (http://www.legallady.com)

Hey man,
I just got some legal work done by www.trademarksolutions.org (http://www.trademarksolutions.org) . They are very fast and cost efficient.
Check it out.
